RDLC reporting tricks in Dynamics NAV 2015
24 September 2014
This post was made by developer Anil Anisetty. By default, Visual Studio Report Designer is used when you work with RDLC layouts if it is installed on the computer that is running the development environment. Otherwise, SQL Server Report Builder is used. SQL Server Report Builder is installed with the development environment.
If your computer is running SQL Server Report Builder, you can configure the development environment to use SQL Server Report Builder when you design layouts instead of Visual Studio Report Designer.
To configure the development environment to use SQL Server Report Builder
In the development environment, on the Tools menu, choose Options.
Set the Use Report Builder field to Yes.
Choose the OK button.
Now Design the report and choose View àLayout. This will open up Microsoft SQL report builder almost similar to SSRS report designers. If the option is set to No again Visual studio report builder is used as default.
It is much easier for developers to design reports with this option, than the normal visual studio RDL layout.
Good luck reporting!
