Successful roll-out of international automation strategy for Domino's Pizza
3 March 2017
Operating production sites in various countries presents a unique set of challenges. How do you streamline processes across multiple locations, and how do you ensure uniform operations and reporting? The first step is to select an ERP package that facilitates taking on these challenges. This was also true for Domino's Pizza: the largest pizza takeaway and delivery company in the world. Domino's Pizza chose to work with Schouw Informatisering to develop their international automation strategy, and Microsoft Dynamics ERP-based SI Foodware played a central role in this. UNIFORM WORKING METHOD WITH SI FOODWARE
Domino's Pizza was already using Microsoft Dynamics in the Netherlands and France, but the working methods had not been integrated across the concern. When it came time to update the applications, the decision was made to deploy integration for both the implementation approach and the software. According to Richard De Gruijter, CFO at Domino's Pizza Europe: 'First and foremost, it was important to safeguard the continuity of the software. Also, we wanted all of the software to come from a single supplier and to develop a uniform working method for the commissaries in the Netherlands and France. We were able to significantly reduce our investment in customisation.' This was all done to lay the right foundation for further optimisation in the future. The ERP implementation began in Gorinchem, the Netherlands. It was subsequently launched in France with the same general framework with the support of
Isatech, the French SI Foodware partner. GERMANY JOINS INTERNATIONAL AUTOMATION STRATEGY
After acquiring a pizza chain in Germany, the question became how to apply the international automation strategy to another country. By implementing the same system used in the Netherlands and France, Domino's Pizza achieved greater financial and operational integration. In order to tap the specific knowledge of the German market, German SI Foodware partner
Gerling Consulting was engaged. Domino's Germany also invested considerably to give staff the best possible training on the intricacies of Microsoft Dynamics and SI Foodware. INTEGRATED WMS SOLUTION
After the successful roll-out of the group solution, Domino's Pizza is energised and looking forward to new projects to improve operations. For instance, staff are busy now in France with preparations for the roll-out of an integrated WMS solution, working where possible with voice-picking. It is essential for the company to approach every project from the perspective of the group solution.
