Banken Champignons Group streamlines processes at its companies with SI Foodware
21 April 2017
Banken Champignons Group is one of the most prominent international growers of and trading companies in mushrooms and mushroom specialities. Product demand for Banken Champignons is rapidly increasing, because society is becoming ever more healthy. And the mushroom takes centre stage in this development. "We have grown tremendously in recent years, both at home and abroad" says Rob Banken, co-managing director of the family business together with brother Jurgen. 'We have reached the point where we need to update our existing ERP solution and roll out more business processes to be able to manage this growth. We already use Schouw Informatisering's SI Foodware ERP architecture, but we are currently not deploying all the functionalities that this package has to offer. After this update, the application will once again be complementary to our growth strategy.' Rolling out new entities easily with Dynamics ERP solution
The company wants to generate responsible growth and become one of the top three players in the European mushroom market. SI Foodware, the food-specific ERP solution based on Microsoft Dynamics ERP architecture, supports this effort. Rob Banken explains why it is so important that Banken Champignons takes the next step in its automation strategy: 'We want to remain up-to-date. Moreover, this latest version enables us to streamline our business processes across all our companies. We are currently active in three countries with six local subsidiaries. The latest SI Foodware ERP solution makes it easy to roll out new entities.'
Quiality assurance in ERP solution via tablets
The high quality of its mushrooms is of crucial importance to Banken Champignons. Quality determines the direction of the commodities here. Tablets can soon register quality assurance in SI Foodware so that customer requirements can be optimally fulfilled. Another important factor is the speed of the system. Mushrooms that arrive in the morning are on their way again in the afternoon. This means that the time between order entry and departure of the trucks is as short as possible. This can also be accommodated in the new system, because all processes are automated in SI Foodware and RF scanning is utilised.
Good experience with ERP partner Schouw and SI Foodware
From the very start, it was absolutely clear to Rob Banken that they would once again commission Schouw Informatisering as their ERP partner. 'Our good and personal relationship with Schouw, their knowledge of the food industry and our own experience with SI Foodware made Schouw the obvious choice. Schouw understands what's going on within Banken Champignons and can provide exactly the right products. Our organisations are a seamless fit: we speak the same language.'
Banken Champignons' automation strategy
Rob Banken sees the implementation as a valuable investment in the future. The process starts with the implementation at the two subsidiaries in the Netherlands, after which the Polish subsidiary will be integrated into Banken Champignons' automation strategy during the next phase.
