Lonka Chooses SI Foodware

Lonka is an international, independently operating, family company known for its A-brand products, including fudge, nougat, caramels, Fruit gums, Berries and chocolate coated sweets. With modern machinery and innovative products the company from Roosendaal is working hard on its image as an advanced supplier, partner and employer. Passion, respect, professionalism and excellence are the cornerstones for this course. In the area of professionalism, Lonka has made a big step last week by choosing a new company-wide software package, specifically for the food manufacturing industry. Enrico Vos, Head Inside Sales and IT management at Lonka: “We have chosen the SI Foodware ERP package of Schouw Informatisering, which is based on Microsoft Dynamics NAV. This packages enables us to fulfill present and future needs in the field of automation.”

At the moment Lonka uses several, separate working software applications to support the business processes. According to Enrico Vos in order to further grow and professionalize, this was not the right base for the company: “We need reliable  management information to run the company. At this moment we notice more often that the different applications provide a lot of extra work, due to the fact that the financial administration and the production solution are not integrated. With a company-wide solution, just like SI Foodware, you can cover all business processes from office, quality, production to logistics, in one standard application. The chance for mistakes immensely decreases and your processes are optimized. This way we can better serve our customers.”

Lonka also choose SI Foodware because of the requirements that are specific for a food manufacturing company says Enrico Vos: “It offers a solution for declaring product specifications, accurate registration of production, proper determination of the costs, optimization of production planning, the complete and rapid tracing of goods and efficient management of stock.”

Microsoft Dynamics NAV is the base of SI Foodware. Lonka deliberately chose a Microsoft ERP package, as this gives a guarantee for further development of the software. Enrico Vos: “Parties such as Microsoft and Schouw Informatisering have the resources to constantly improve software and adapt to the needs of their customers. The speed of the development is very high and there are annual updates available.”

Lonka intends to go live with the new software package on 1 January 2015. According to Enrico Vos this should certainly be feasible: “The implementation is very important to us and we have a highly motivated project team. It is the next major step in the development of this wonderful company.”
